“The piece Sara made for me is of a typical Illinois landscape. She has used acrylic on wood panel to create a stunning contrast between a vast bright sky and the flat, dark earth indicative of the Midwest region. The most striking feature is the painting of the sky, which occupies more than half the canvas.
The sky is a brilliant blue, with white clouds that create a dynamic and swirling pattern. The clouds reflect the light of the sun, which is hidden behind the horizon.
I was not expecting such a dynamic piece, and it is not a typical Illinois landscape as you might find from an artist like Harold Gregor. This has a depth and contrast to it that I just love.”
